Volunteer

Marisa Sunflower Field

American Sign Language (ASL) Instructional Assistant (IA)

For four semesters I volunteered to IA for ASL levels 1-4 at UConn. This experience taught me patience and how to care for the different learning processes and needs of students.

ASL Club Secretary

I was the ASL Club secretary, 2021-2022. Here I learned teambuilding, organizing and leadership skills. My responsibilities included attending all club meetings, taking attentive notes during executive board meetings, marketing the club on various social media accounts as well as UConn Daily Digest, and sending out weekly updates and announcements to the entire club via email.

Cru

Cru is a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus. Throughout the 2021-2022 academic year, twice a week I attend Cru meetings to grow deeper in relationship with fellow Christians and seek the Lord.

Filter of Hope

This past January I had the privilege to embark on a journey with Cru and filter of hope to San Jose, Costa Rica. Here we distributed water filters and shared the good news of Jesus to the people in the communities.

Sunday School Teacher - Vox Church

Every month I facilitate and teach a lesson with children ages 1-10. This volunteer opportunity taught me dedication to children and how to show up for them even when I did not feel like it or when it was inconvenient for me.
